DV – German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development, Berlin
Main Activities: The German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development connects its project experience with its political activities as an association and aims at conveying them to very diverse groups of interested participants. Moreover, its activities as an association in Brussels open up contacts to different EU institutions.
Tasks in GreenKeys: The German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development supports the project's national and international political, media, and public relations efforts.
Geographical Research Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (GRI HAS)
Main Activities: The Institute is the major research centre in the country, specialised in spatial and environmental studies with special attention to sustainable urban development and the city's social and ecological factors.
Tasks in GreenKeys: GRI HAS was responsible for the coordination of the Hungarian city Budapest, coordinated its activities, collected and evaluated the results for the toolbox application.
Leibnitz Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER)
Main Activities: The Institute has its core expertise in research questions pertaining to ecological land-settlement development on different planning scales.
Tasks in GreenKeys: The IOER took over the overall project coordination. Additionally, it was responsible for the coordination of the two German cities of Dresden and Leipzig, coordinated their activities, collected and evaluated the results for the toolbox application.
Helmholtz Centre of Environmental Research – UFZ
Main Activities: The UFZ devotes exclusively to landscape-oriented environmental research in a great variety of fields. Landscape-based research and natural sciences are combined in the pursuing of interdisciplinary research topics.
Tasks in GreenKeys: The work load of the UFZ dealt primarily with the methodological steps of preparing the individual Urban Green Space Strategies and in identifying best practice examples from the cities' evaluation reports. This resulted in the development and provision of a coherent procedure plan in form of a guideline document for the application of Urban Green Strategies.
University of Thessaly
Main Activities: The Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly (DPRD) consists of a diverse group of scientific disciplines. Many have served at various levels of public administration and have received distinctions for their research, publications and contributions to the planning profession.
Tasks in GreenKeys: DPRD took over the leadership of all local activities in participating cities. Its activities aimed primarily at accompanying the implementation of pilot projects in the cities. The specific actions built up on different stages of the planning, implementation and evaluation of the single pilot projects. Additionally they had been responsible for the coordination of the three Greek cities of Halandri, Volos and Xanthi.
Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UPIRS)
Main Activities: The Institute’s research objectives are the advancement of theoretical research in planning and design, the development and evaluation of planning methods and techniques and the implementation of applied research in design projects.
Tasks in GreenKeys: UPIRS is responsible for the development of strategies. Both as a source and reference for activities of the practice and functions as a scientific reflection on them, this task is closely linked to the planned developments in the partner cities. Additionally, UPIRS is responsible for the coordination of the Slovenian city of Nova Gorica and the Italian city of Giulianova.
Union of Parks & Landscape Specialists in Bulgaria (UPLSB)
Main Activities: The UPLSB is an environmental NGO. Its mission is to protect the natural and cultural heritage and to take care of the ecological balance of the environment in order to contribute to improving the quality of life.
Tasks in GreenKeys: UPLSB was responsible for Networking Activities, referring to the coordination of activities as experts’ colloquia, site visits and workshops.
Technical University of Marche
Main Activities: The Management of Urban and Rural Resources Area (AGRUR) belongs to the Applied Sciences to Complex Systems Departments of the Technical University of Marche. The main scientific activity is dedicated to understand dynamics and processes acting on whole natural and cultural landscape, with particular regards to sustainable resources analysis, planning and management according to the modern Landscape Ecology paradigms and multi-disciplines approach.
Tasks in GreenKeys: AGRUR's main task was the development of the”Educational Module”, an interactive media to be used in workshops and training courses in order to raise the awareness of the value and benefits of urban green spaces, primarily target to non-expert.
